Brigadier General




Born in Ankara in 1964, Brigadier General Recep ÖZDEMİR graduated from the Army Military Academy in 1986 and from Artillery and Missile School in 1987. He served as Battery Officer and Battery Commander in various artillery units from 1987 to 1997.

After graduating from the Turkish Army War College in 1999, he fulfilled the posts of G2 and G3 Planning Officer in 2nd Corps Command HQ, Gallipoli. During his time at Corps HQ, he was temporarily assigned as the ACOS of CIMIC Branch for the Turkish Brigade in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2000.

In 2002, he graduated from the United States Command and General Staff College and was assigned to 23rd Infantry Brigade Command as ACOS of Operation and Training Branch. In the following year, he was assigned as the Görümlü Battalion Commander in the same Brigade.

From 2004 to 2007, he served as a Project Officer in the Defense Planning Department at the Supreme Allied Command Transformation Staff Element Europe (SACT SEE) in Mons, Belgium.

From 2007 to 2009, he served as ACOS G3 in 6th Corps Command and then in 2009 to 2011 as Deputy Commander of 172nd Armored Brigade Command at Cizre Garrison Command.

From 2011 to 2013, he served as ACOS of the Concept in Operation Department on the Turkish General Staff. In 2013, he returned to the Defense Planning Department at SACT SEE as the ACOS. In 2015, he served as ACOS in TRADOC and then Chief of staff in TRADOC School Command.

Upon promotion to Brigadier General on 29th of July 2016 he was assigned as Chief of Staff in the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Turkey (NRDC-T).

He is married with one child.
