COM NRDC-T BIOGRAPHY

Lieutenant General Mehmet DAYSAL is the Commander of NRDC-T (3rd Corps) in Istanbul. He graduated from the Army Military Academy in 1979 and following Artillery and Missile School in 1980, he served as a Battery Officer and Battery Commander in Cyprus and other locations.

He graduated from the Turkish Army War College in 1989 and fulfilled a number of staff appointments including in the 20th Mechanized Brigade (Şanlıurfa) as an Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence officer, in the Transportation and Training Command (Izmir) as the ACOS Operations and Training Branch and in the Aegean Army Operations Department as a planning officer.

After graduating from the Turkish Armed Forces Staff College in 1993, he commanded the 3rd Infantry Battalion of 11th Motorized Infantry Brigade in Denizli. He served in Azerbaijan for 4 months during 1993 and in 1995 served with IFOR in Bosnia-Herzegovina for a year.

From 1997 to 2000 he was assigned to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) as a Crisis Management Officer and Deputy Director of the Logistics Branch. In 2000-2002, he served as Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence Officer in 8th Corps (Elâzığ) before deploying to Afghanistan with ISAF II HQ for 8 months, as ACOS Logistic Branch. He commanded the 28th Infantry Regiment, part of 9th Infantry Division, in Sarıkamış, Kars from 2002-2004.

In 2004, he was promoted to Brigadier General and commanded the 8th Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Tekirdağ for four years.

Promoted to Major General in 2008 he served as Director of Intelligence in Land Forces Command until 2010 and then as Commander of North Cyprus Security Forces until 2012. He then returned to Afghanistan for a year as Deputy Director Operations and Support in ISAF Joint Command HQ.

On promotion to Lieutenant General in 2013, he served in the Turkish General Staff as Director of Intelligence. From 2015 to 2016, he commanded the Combat Service Support Training Command, until assigned to his current position in August 2016.

He is married with two children.
